On the corner of NE 86th Street and Biscayne Boulevard in Miami, is where you will find Pinch Kitchen+Bar. An open kitchen concept, with wooden tables, black and white accents, full bar and a chalkboard wall give this cozy restaurant a hip, funky vibe. 

There are a lot of very good things available at this casual neighborhood spot, but you should come to brunch for two of them in particular: the Pinch burger and the insane feat of engineering that is their stuffed french toast. It’s an entire loaf of brioche that has an oozing pool of guava in its center. Splitting it open and watching it all spill onto your plate is both soothing and satisfying, like a babbling creek or Niagara Falls—if both of those things were filled with hot guava instead of water.

Within the genre of big, messy burgers, Pinch makes one of our favorites. The juicy patty is over an inch thick and contained by a tall brioche bun. Lots of swiss cheese, a thick slice of tomato, and caramelized onions make every bite pleasantly gooey. This is a burger that feels like a full meal (and they give you more than enough french fries too). You’ll probably even need to take a little break halfway through.

The stylish white house that’s home to Pinch Kitchen turns into a chill Sunday party when brunch comes around. The dishes here are as pretty as the surroundings, like eggs in a crispy potato basket that’s as cheery as the rising sun, and the stuffed brioche French toast with guava jam tastes like something that could only be created here in Miami. Add on bottomless mimosas for $25, because we ought to make a day out of this house party.

Pinch Kitchen and Bar is a buzzy open-kitchen restaurant that uses local ingredients and changes its menu based on the seasons. The restaurant’s name comes from the common cooking refrain (“a pinch of this, a pinch of that”), a philosophy that’s mirrored by the various cultural influences on the menu. During the week, diners can sample dishes such as Tibetan momos (dumplings) or “K-Town” guacamole seasoned with housemade kimchi and Korean spices. On the weekends, the guava French toast and bottomless mimosas urge locals to hang out all afternoon.

The Upper Eastside’s Pinch kind of looks like a house from the street, and it feels that way when you step inside, too. It’s quiet in here, with no blaring music or servers sprinting through the dining room.

Twenty-five bucks will grant diners unlimited mimosas for 90 minutes. That’s plenty of time to fill up on dishes like French toast stuffed with guava and whipped cream cheese, steak and eggs, and chicken and waffles with maple bacon chutney.

Technically Pinch is located just outside MiMo on 86th Street, but you’re already in the car and it’s literally only an extra 90 seconds if you get a couple of green lights. This place does lunch, dinner, and a really great weekend brunch that’s always crowded.

Pinch Kitchen owners Rene Reyes and John Gallo met while working at Casa Tua. They spent years together at various Pubbelly operations before realizing their shared dream and opening a cozy spot just north of the MiMo District in 2015.
